We put away all the fall books and decorations bec We put away all the fall books and decorations because my kids are ready to countdown to Christmas. That means it’s time to share a brand new book from a favorite series just in time for the holidays:
Elves are the Worst!

Everyone knows that elves have a reputation of being the hardest workers around—especially when it comes to the holiday season—but as far as Gilbert the Goblin is concerned that’s nothing but ho-ho-hogwash. A goblin’s to-do list is just as long as any elf’s; they just don’t feel the need to sing songs about it.

To prove he can outperform any reindeer-watching, wrapper-paper-wielding, toy-tinkering elf, Gilbert puts on his merriest disguise to infiltrate Santa’s workshop. But can one lone goblin do the work of a whole team of elves?

Over the last 10 years, these have become well-known names in many classrooms and homes. These Questioneers have inspired kids to dream big, work hard, and to follow their passions. Now we get to learn more about their teacher, Lila Greer.

This book tells the story of a young Lila Greer who is filled with worries, big and small. When her family moves to a new town, she feels invisible and alone. There is one person who sees her: Lila’s teacher, Ms. Kern. Through some creativity, kindness, and even blackboard erasers, Ms. Kern manages to make Lila feel welcome and open to new experiences - something that resonates with Lila on her journey to becoming the teacher we’ve seen all along.

The school’s spring art show is coming up and Si The school’s spring art show is coming up and Sienna is excited! But when she gets to the art table, all the crayons are gone except dark brown and light brown. How can she make a special picture for the art show?

Her teacher tries to cheer her up by telling her that lots of wonderful things are brown. So Sienna imagines some of her favorite things ― her grandma’s rose garden🌹, her new bicycle🚲 , and rainbows🌈 ― but none of them are brown!

Her friends remind her that chocolate🍫 is brown, and so is the bear🐻 at the zoo. Sienna draws both with her friends, but neither picture seems special enough. In the end, Sienna comes up with an idea for a drawing that’s perfect for the art show.🤎

This book celebrates family, diversity, and creativity. It would make a great addition to your home or school library. Swipe to take a peek inside!

Jory John and Pete Oswald continue to amaze me with their ability to take life lessons that kids need to learn and turn them into picture books that appeal to both kids AND adults. As a bonus, there are stuffed animals for each character (The Good Egg is on the reverse side of The Bad Seed).
