Read Books about Gratitude and Thankfulness
This is probably the easiest way to spread this message in the classroom. Books have a great way of modeling new ideas and allowing children to see things in new ways. Here are some of my favorite books about gratitude and thankfulness.

Write Thank You Letters
Teachers and school staff are working harder than ever. Students can show their appreciation with a handmade card or friendly letter. This is also a great way to tie in writing for an authentic purpose. Just imagine the way one simple note might make someone’s day!
Create Thankful Lists
Have students brainstorm all of the things in their lives they are thankful for. This can include people, special places, and things. You can grab these free templates to get started. You could also have students start a gratitude journal and add new ideas to the list each day.
