Sterilite Drawer Labels

August 15, 2018

Sterilite Drawers have been a key organizational tool in my classroom for years and they work well in my home office, too! I love that I can keep all of the mess separated, contained, and still keep everything looking good just by adding labels to the front of the drawers. After sharing some pictures of my Sterilite drawers on Instagram, I have been asked where these labels can be found. So I thought I’d share a few sets of Sterilite drawer labels that you can download.

Sterilite Drawers have been a key organizational tool in my classroom for years and they work well in my home office, too! I love that I can keep all of the mess separated, contained, and still keep everything looking good just by adding labels to the front of the drawers. You can download these Sterilite Drawer labels for free!

Sterilite Drawer Labels – Rainbow Watercolor

My drawers currently have these rainbow watercolor labels. I used a font called AG That’s a No From Me.

These free rainbow watercolor labels can be used with the Sterilite 3-Drawer Units.

Sterilite Drawer Labels – Colorful Dots

Before that, I had a set of colorful dot labels. On these I used a font called Carton Six.

These free colorful dot labels can be used with the Sterilite 3-Drawer Units.

When I created those two sets, I also played around with several other designs. You can tell by looking at these that I love bright colors!

1 – Bright Dots (Font – KG Primary Penmanship 2) | 2 – Confetti (Font – KG Blank Space Solid) | 3 – Chalkboard Confetti (Font – KG Red Hands) | 4 – Rainbow Arrows (Font – PB Iced Latte) | 5 – Rainbow Chevron (Font – PB Coffee Before Talkie)

Sterilite Drawer Uses

In the classroom, I used Sterilite drawers for both personal and student use. I had drawers for behavior notes, extra copies of assignments, extra supplies, copies needed for the week, and much more! One of my favorite drawers was called Lost and Found. This was where all of the little items found on the floor at the end of the day could be returned. If students were missing something, they knew to check the lost and found first.

For my home office, I store most of my office supplies in them. They are located on the shelves above my desk. Not only does it keep the clutter off of my desk, but because the drawers are labeled clearly, my entire family can access the supplies they need, too.

Attaching the Labels

I have had success using Scotch Tape to attach my labels to the drawers. Once the label is inside the drawer, I take a very small piece of Scotch Tape and start on the back side of the label and end at the top lip of the drawer. Once the drawer is pushed in, the tape cannot be seen. I do this to both sides of the drawer. The tape does pop up from time to time, but I just gently push it back into place.

In the past, I used a glue stick across the front of the entire label and then pushed it into place inside the drawer. This seemed to work because the glue dried clear. However, after a few weeks, the labels seemed to lose their stick and fell off in the drawer. The more I had to re-glue, the more I noticed a sticky residue on the front of the drawers.

If you have a better way of attaching the labels, I’d love to hear about it!

Where to Buy Sterilite Drawers

I found my Sterilite drawers at Target and Walmart. However, I know they can also be found in multi-packs on Amazon. You’ll want to keep an eye on the prices to get the best deal AND double check the size of the unit before purchasing. The drawers I use are approximately 13.5″ D x 11″ W x 9.6″ H.

Sterilite Drawer Labels – Free Download

You can download any of the labels shown above. These labels are free for personal use and are editable in PowerPoint. I chose to go this route so you can choose the font you want for the labels. Please make sure you have access to PowerPoint to use these labels. When you click on the labels below, your download should begin immediately. Once the file has downloaded, open the file, and type the words you want directly onto the labels. You can change the size and style of font. You can even change the color! To add more labels of the same style, you will need to duplicate the slide.

  • Rainbow Watercolor
  • Colorful Dots
  • Bright Dots
  • Confetti
  • Chalkboard Confetti
  • Rainbow Arrows
  • Rainbow Chevron

My favorite library find this week takes an up clo My favorite library find this week takes an up close look at the epic journey of a Pacific salmon.

If you live in the PNW, the 4th grade students probably study the salmon life cycle at some point during the year. If they’re lucky, they even get to help care for some of the eggs for months at their school before releasing the salmon fry into a local creek. I know I got to do this when I taught 4th grade, and my own kids did, too!

This book combines beautiful illustrations with inviting & informative text that captures each unique stage of the Coho salmon. The back matter provides additional information about the life cycle stages. It would be a fantastic addition to your salmon or life cycles unit!

💛 LIBRARY STACK 💛 Thought I’d stop and take a mom 💛 LIBRARY STACK 💛

Thought I’d stop and take a moment to admire my current checkouts from the local library, especially since I was recently reminded that February is National Library Lovers’ Month.

Do I often get strange looks and questions when another patron sees me with a large stack of picture books at the self-checkout desk? Yes, but that hasn’t stopped me!

Which titles from this stack would you reach for first?
My favorite library find this week dives deep bene My favorite library find this week dives deep beneath the surface to explore hidden treasures.

Alternating between verse and facts, this book gives readers a front row seat to some of the biggest shipwrecks ever found. We also get introduced to some of the scientists, divers, and treasure hunters behind these discoveries.

Whether you know an aspiring marine archaeologist or someone who loves a good treasure hunt, this book would be a good fit for any curious, adventurous reader!

A princess who is intelligent, has a kind & gentle A princess who is intelligent, has a kind & gentle heart, and one who stays true to herself? Yes, please!

Set in the mountains of Joseon, we meet Jeongsoon. She has a heart of jade, and wants to become princess so she can help the hungry children in her village.

It isn’t long before she enters the Princess Challenge and faces three tests: Manners, Wisdom, and the Sleep Test.

While Jeongsoon is far from perfect, she stays true to herself and wins the favor of the queen.

This story adds a fresh perspective on the classic tale of The Princess and the Pea. My favorite part was the Sleep Test twist! I love that the backmatter includes information about the real-life Queen Jeongsoon of South Korea.

A big thank you to the publisher for sharing this new picture book with my family!

My favorite library find this week combines friend My favorite library find this week combines friendship and adventure with a story about how paper is made.

Under a tree, a boy with a book and girl with a paper plane meet and play over the course of a wonderful day. Then they are parted - perhaps never to meet again.

Soon their tree is felled and starts a new journey to become paper to make hundreds of different things...including a book for a girl and a notepad for a boy.

Can a new paper plane find its way to reunite the friends again?

⭐️ Not only would this story be a great addition to your friendship collection, but you might want to check it out before Earth Day since it also explains how paper is made.

As teachers and parents, we want our kids to be ki As teachers and parents, we want our kids to be kind to others. Through books, we can show students how to see the good in others, how to be there for other people, how to help others feel included, how to be kind even when it is hard, and how spreading kindness can come back around.

In other words, books can help us send the message that kindness is important and something we value.
