CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS BOOK

In case you aren’t familiar, the tiny town of Chewandswallow was very much like any other tiny town, except for its weather, which came three times a day—at breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Life for the townspeople was delicious, until the miraculous food weather took a turn for the worse. The food got larger and larger, and so did the portions. The flood of huge food caused chaos, and the people feared for their lives. Something had to be done…before it was too late!

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS CRAFT

Can you imagine what it would be like to have food falling from the sky? The townspeople of Chewandswallow had to rely on their local weather forecasters to let them know what they could expect to eat for each meal. I thought students would enjoy creating their own wild weather reports, drawing a scene of their wild weather, and then making a kid reporter craft to go with it.

After reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, students can create their own wild weather reports, draw a scene of their wild weather on a TV screen, and then make a kid reporter craft.

Students can either choose their own wild weather or use the included spinner activity to leave their weather to chance.

Once students know their wild weather, they can begin to write a weather report. I have included weather words and terms along with several scripts to give students a baseline for what they can write about. Students can use these ideas to create their own weather report.

When writing their weather reports, students can use these tools to help them. There is a wild weather spinner, weather words and terms, and several scripts students can use to get started with their weather reports.

Once the weather report has been written, students can draw their wild weather scene on the TV craft and begin to assemble their kid reporter. I have included several different hairstyles to add a little variety to this craft.

This kid reporter craft for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs contains six different hair options to add variety to your display.

When finished, these can be put on a bulletin board display for other classrooms to enjoy.
