Birthdays, holidays, and milestone celebrations happen all year round. Looking for the perfect gift? Here are 10 reasons why books make great gifts.
REASONS WHY BOOKS MAKE GREAT GIFTS
Something for Everyone
No matter the age or interest of that someone special in your life, there’s a book out there just waiting to be read. If you need some help picking out the perfect title, ask your local librarian or bookshop for guidance.
Easy to Find
Whether you’re shopping in person or from the comfort of your couch, books are easy to find. Locally owned bookstores, large store chains, and online retailers often carry a large variety of books.
Depending on where you shop, most books are fairly inexpensive when you consider how long they last. I love to look for BOGO deals and discounts. For teachers, Scholastic offers dollar deals almost every month. If you keep an eye out for these, you can score an entire class set of books for a steal!
Easy to Wrap
Most books are rectangular in shape which make them easy to wrap. You can cover them with your favorite wrapping paper, toss them in a gift bag, or just place a bow or ribbon on top.
Entertaining and Educational
Books can be enjoyed almost anywhere or anytime. They open a world of possibilities to the reader and help parents engage with their children in educational ways.
Books make great gifts because there’s no assembly required. They also don’t require extra batteries or power (unless your reader is using a digital device). Books are durable and can last a lifetime.
Don’t Take Up Much Space
I love giving books to kids because they don’t take up a lot of space. I also find comfort in knowing that if someone were to step on one in the middle of the night, it won’t hurt the same way as stepping on a small toy.
Support Real People
When you buy a book, you are helping to support a real person. Authors and illustrators work hard to bring their books to life. Books that are purchased from local bookstores help support small business owners, too!
Books make great gifts because they have special meaning to both the giver AND the receiver. Giving someone a book shows that you care. I love that you can add a personalized message right inside the gift, too.
Remember how I said that books can last a lifetime? That’s because a book is a gift that you can open again and again!
