EASTER BOOKS FOR KIDS

Easter is just around the corner! If you’re looking for the perfect story to share, here are some of my favorite Easter books for kids.

THE NIGHT BEFORE EASTER

“Twas the night before Easter, just before dawn, Not a creature was stirring out on the lawn.” The Easter bunny takes center stage in this delightful spin on a beloved poem that will send families hopping to the bookstore for an Easter treat sweeter than any sugar plum!

HOW TO CATCH THE EASTER BUNNY

Finding eggs is easy, but can YOU catch the Easter Bunny in action this year? He has a basket full of treats and tricks for staying hidden―plus that bunny hippity hops with lightning speed!

TURKEY’S EGGCELLENT EASTER

Easter is almost here―and Turkey knows just how to celebrate. He’s going to win the eggstra-special Easter egg hunt! The only problem is that animals aren’t allowed to enter. So he and his barnyard friends come up with a top-secret plan. With his trademark disguises and a whole lot of help, Turkey goes undercover. Will his basket of tricks help him win a prize?

THE EASTER BUNNY IS MISSING

It’s the day before the big Easter party and the Easter Bunny is nowhere to be found! Can the animals of Blueberry Meadow save Easter? Join the adventure and find out!

THERE WAS AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A CHICK

This time, the hungry old lady swallows a chick, some straw, an egg, some candy, a basket, and a bow! And just as she’s hopping and skipping along, who should she meet but the Easter Bunny! Watch what happens when she trips, with amazing results!

THE LITTLEST EASTER BUNNY

Penny is the littlest bunny in Easter town. She may be little, but Penny knows this is the year she’ll be able to find the perfect job to help out THE Easter Bunny on Easter morning! But even though she’s excited, Penny just isn’t able to make marshmallow treats, or weave baskets, or paint giant eggs. Will Penny be able to find a way to participate in the Easter festivities, or is the littlest Easter bunny still too little?

HOW TO TRACK AN EASTER BUNNY

Legend has it that the only way to find all the hidden Easter eggs is to track an Easter Bunny’s every move. . . . But be careful: Easter Bunnies hop fast! To find one, you’ll need to be clever in crafting a tricky nest. So, grab some nest supplies, glitter, and glue, and get prepared for your sly holiday visitor!

JUNIE B. JONES DUMB BUNNY

Lucille is having an Easter egg hunt at her rich expensive mansion! And guess what? The winner gets a play date to swim in Lucille’s heated indoor swimming pool! Only, here is the problem. How did Junie B. get stuck wearing a big dumb bunny suit? And how can she possibly find eggs when she keeps tripping over her huge big rabbit feet? Being a dumb bunny is definitely not as easy as it looks. Will Junie B. end up with egg on her face? Or will the day deliver some very uneggspected results?

THE GREAT EGGSCAPE

Shel (an egg) isn’t a huge fan of group activities, especially when he’s made to be “It” for a game of hide-and-seek. Nevertheless, Shel doesn’t want to let his friends down, so he reluctantly plays. But after a morning of hiding and seeking, somebody’s still missing. Will the dozen eggs friends ever be reunited?

THE EASTER EGG

If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit with his deliveries on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robin’s egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he declares the empty blue eggshell the very best one to reward Hoppi for his kindness.

PETE THE CAT: BIG EASTER ADVENTURE

When Pete wakes up Easter morning, ready to check out his basket of goodies, he discovers the Easter Bunny needs a little extra help. Our favorite groovy blue cat puts on his bunny ears and finds a way to collect, paint, and hide the eggs all in time for Easter.

THE EASTER BUNNY’S ASSISTANT

Easter Bunny decides to decorate eggs with the help of his friend, Skunk. But Skunk’s way of showing excitement drives Easter Bunny crazy. They must come up with a compromise, otherwise Skunk will be left out of the Easter celebration!

THE BIGGEST EASTER BASKET EVER

As Mouseville prepares for a gala Easter celebration on the village green, complete with a biggest Easter Basket contest, two lovable mice learn a lesson in cooperation — and fun!

RECHENKA’S EGGS

Old Babushka, known throughout all of Moskva for her beautifully painted eggs, is preparing her eggs for the Easter Festival when she takes in an injured goose. She names the goose Rechenka, and they live happily together until one day when Rechenka accidentally overturns a basket, breaking all of Babushka’s lovingly crafted eggs. But the next morning Babushka has a surprise awaiting her in the basket. She cries: “A miracle!” It is one of many in this charmingly told tale of friendship and caring.

PINKALICIOUS EGGSTRAORDINARY EASTER

When Pinkalicious wakes up on Easter morning, she finds a note from Edgar Easter Bunny that leads to a fun family day.

HERE COMES THE EASTER CAT

Why should the Easter Bunny get all the love? That’s what Cat would like to know. So he decides to take over: He dons his sparkly suit, jumps on his Harley, and roars off into the night. But it turns out delivering Easter eggs is hard work. And it doesn’t leave much time for naps (of which Cat has taken five–no, seven). So when a pooped-out Easter Bunny shows up, and with a treat for Cat, what will Cat do?

OUR EASTER ADVENTURE

Have you ever wondered where the Easter Bunny lives, or how he makes all those colorful eggs? Join a group of children as they follow a trail of eggs and discover his secret hideaway! The question is, what will they find there?

EMMA THE EASTER FAIRY

Every year, Emma the Easter Fairy paints the three special eggs that make Easter sparkle. But this year, Jack Frost has ruined everything! The magic eggs have disappeared. Now the chocolate is melting, the eggs are going bad, and the Easter Bunny is missing! Can Rachel and Kirsty hop to it and help Emma the Easter Fairy save the holiday? Or will this Easter be totally rotten, thanks to Jack Frost and his goblins?

I love that there are so many great children’s b I love that there are so many great children’s books out there to help kids identify their emotions AND learn how they can work through these big feelings. Today I want to share two that specifically address anger.

Ravi’s Roar (Big Bright Feelings)
@bloomsburychildrens
Ravi is the smallest in his family, which isn’t a big deal. But one day at the park, he realizes his arms won’t reach the monkey bars, no one wants to play hide-and-seek, and he’s too little to ride the big slide. Ravi is so mad that he can’t control his temper and turns into a tiger! Can Ravi learn to work through this anger so he doesn’t hurt others?

I Am a Tornado
@simonkids
Tornado is big, spins fast, and is carving a huge path of destruction. Could he be upset? Cow has been caught up in all of it, but that might be a good thing. After all, Cow is a good listener and his calming presence is exactly what Tornado needs. #SimonKidsCrew

These must-read SEL books would be a great addition to add to your classroom, school, or home library! What are some other books about anger that you would recommend?

Do you love a good chance to celebrate? I do, but I tend to forget about special days throughout the year.🤷🏼‍♀️

Here are two books that feature special holidays, but also recognize that an average, ordinary day can be worth celebrating, too! Swipe to take a peek inside!

Sometimes a book comes along and I don’t think t Sometimes a book comes along and I don’t think twice before I press Add to Cart. This is one of those books and I think you’ll love it, too!💙

In this story, a family spends the day at the beach. One boy builds a sandcastle while his brothers play soccer nearby. When their ball crushes the sandcastle, it stirs up a variety of emotions. Dad sits down to help the boy acknowledge, name, and process his feelings.

“Your feelings are yours - each one is okay.
What you’re feeling today may soon go away.
Listen to your emotions - learn how to name them.
Then you’ll know better how to explain them.”

The message that it’s perfectly normal to have a wide range of feelings is one that boys need to hear more often. Pete Oswald has paired his rhyming text beautifully with detailed illustrations that only enhance this must-read book!💙 Swipe to take a peek inside.

What do you love to do when you’re with your friends? If you are anything like me, it’s not about WHAT you do, but WHO you spend your time with. That’s just one reason I was drawn to Nothing’s Wrong.

In this story, Anders and Jeff are headed out for a picnic. After baking the most delicious apple pie, Anders discovers it was ruined by the rain. Worried it will spoil their outing, Anders pretends that nothing’s wrong, but Jeff gets the sense that his friend isn’t being honest.

Should he give his friend space?
Should he check in with his friend?
Should he help him out?
Or should he just be there by his side?

How can Jeff be a good friend if he doesn’t know what his friend might need?

This book combines laugh-out-loud humor with a heartwarming message about true friendship. It reminds readers that even when nothing seems to go right, a good friend will be there for you at the end of the day.

Have you heard that one before? It happens. Kids get writer’s block. When they do, they will need some inspiration to get back on track. I like to use books and I have a new one I think you’ll love!

Birdie usually has no problem creating masterpieces. However, as the end of the school year gets closer, she’s struggling to get creative.

Have no fear, the Storytellers are here!

Soon, Birdie’s school supplies hatch a plan to spark wonder, build curiosity, and inspire new ideas. Will this plan get Birdie’s creative juices flowing, or will she be defeated yet again by her nemesis, the blank page?

This book would be a great addition to your writing mentor texts. It celebrates that kids are surrounded by inspiration and encourages them to begin with wonder.
